I can't find the net carrying capacity listed anywhere here on the web.

I fear its lower than you might expect since they list storage in square feet not in pounds.

Anyone know what it is?

If you're looking at one, there will be a listing of all of the weight capacities including CCC on a wall somewhere; usually in the wardrobe.

GCWR of 42350 - 10000 towing = 32350 GVWR

What you need is the CCC (Cargo Carrying Capacity)

Don't forget to figure in your water and waste tanks into the number, depending upon how much you will carry on normal trips.

From other Journeys I have seen, I would expect a CCC rating of 2500 to 3500 pounds.

Thanks... Understood, I just didn't have access to a Journey to check the posted CCC.

Thank you. Thought so. 2500 would be pretty light for a diesel chassis. I've got 4100 + in CCC on my gas chassis (Ford F53) which typically would have much less capacity than most diesel pushers. Don't get me wrong I want a DP and the 2012 Journey 36M is a beautiful DP....... I need more carrying capacity though. Maybe I'll ask the salesman to pull the actual number for me.

Thanks all,

Roll

I can't say for sure on your gas chassis, but manufactures over the years have calculated CCC differently. Some include hitch weight and towing to get higher numbers. In the last few years, they have gotten more consistant, and realistic.

You will be surprised to find that many gas units and smaller diesels are close to being overloaded, and even the big tag axel DP's when loaded with ceramic tile, heavy countertops, seperate washers & dryers, extra bathrooms, residential refers, etc. don't have that much 'real' cargo capacity.

With Winnebagoes of late, there is a yellow sticker on the inside of the entrance door and by the driver's seat that lists the various weights. And I have seen that they don't include water weight, but mention you need to subtract the 8.3 pounds per gallon of water carried.

My DP has about 3400 for the CCC, before water weight is subtracted.

Our 36 G with washer/dryer factory installed has a CCC of 3774, no ceramic tile floors.

Just a "heads up" regarding CCC information from other coaches.
The standard calculation for CCC was changed in the RV industry with the 2009 model year. Prior to that CCC included 156 lbs for each available sleeping spot / occupant. The "new" calculation of CCC does not include occupants and is now called "OCCC" for "Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity". The new OCCC appears to be much greater than typical older CCCs but be careful of this new math. Winnebago issued a "Service Tip 2009-02" entitled "New Weight Label" describing this change.
The label shows the weight of a full tank of water but it must be deducted from the OCCC number as must the number of occupants and other tankage before you can see what you actually have left for cargo.
You can download this Service Tip from the Winnebago web site under Resources - Sevice - Service Tips.
In terms of getting the OCCC for a 36M, you might call Owner Relations at Winnebago and ask them what is typical or what the range is. I am sure they would be willing to provide it as well as answer your questions.

I had found this but again, the CCC or OCCC or Net CCC is not listed. Instead they list the storage capacity in square feet.... which I believe, is a red flag to anyone who wants to know just how much additional weight any specific coach will carry.

That is more like what I would expect and is certainly acceptable for a couple like us with lots of junk.

To bobmac.

I understand liquids and occupant weights must be subtracted, thus it is so important to have a carrying capacity in the 3500 to 4000 pound range (or more) unless you are comfortable driving a coach that is overloaded.
