Loose 30 amp cord cap -
The factory molded on cord cap on my 30 amp power cord has been loose since day one and progressively getting worse. I will be sorry to lose the molded cap as I like them better than the replacement units that mechanically fasten the wire to the terminal posts.
Has anyone had this problem? Just curious.
I'll probably have to replace it and it is cost prohibitive to buy a new section of cord with molded cap.

Very common, I recommend a Camco Power Pull type plug as a replacement, NOTE: the plug is nothing special on the Power Pull.. but the cap is, it has a handle to pull the plug out with, and that's the only reason I like 'em

I had this happen to mine also. I've also had it happen to heavy duty extension cords. I replaced the end on my 30A cord with the big yellow Camco plug. But it sometimes is hard to get it plugged in at some campsites. Some boxes have the 30A outlet very close to the side of the box, some boxes have a lip at the bottom that causes the plug to sit tilted in the outlet. I would like to find a good quality plug without as much bulk as the Camco.

I have the Camco w/the handle on my extension cord, and think its great. Haven't had issues w/not fitting but I can see where on some pedestals that might be possible. I switched to the handle type when the previous molded type melted due to bad connection(s) inside or else bad connection on one spade that got hot (couldn't tell exactly except for the hot part cuz of the giant melted gob where the plug head used to be). Glad I didn't have a fire.

Sometimes it is possible if you don't let it go too far to use a little tire plug cement to fuse the jacket and plug head back together. Just don't get it on the insulation of the individual leads and press it back together. If it works you don't have to replace the cord end and if it doesn't you still need to replace it and nothings lost.

On our previous Adventurer I had to replace the 30A plug because the hard rubber was melted at the prongs. I felt better having the replacement because the electical connections were much more positive and secure after having been tightened down by hand with a tool instead of being crimped on by a machine.
When I cut the old one open the poor connections were obvious.
