Wow again!

When we packed up the last couple times out, Earlene said there was a noise coming from the slide. With the engine running, and my bad hearing, it all sounded okay to me. Well, today, I brought the slide in after the television install and it sounded like a banshee. Either my hearing has gotten better, or the slide has gotten louder. It doesn't do it on extending, only on retracting. Once it starts the noise I can stop the slide, extend a few inches and start back in and the noise picks up. About at the top of the stroke, just before the slide is all the way in, the noise stops.

I stopped by the dealer and the techs listened to it and have no idea what it is. So after my trip this next couple weeks I'll stick it in the shop.

Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks.

Not really sure but you might look under the slide at each end where the ram goes in and out and look for the little nylon glides the ram rides on. They are usually kind of whitish, about 1/2" wide, 1/4"-3/8" thick, and about 2 1/2" long (which you usually can't see the entire length). There is one on each side under each ram, one about 2"X3" on each side and one the same size on the top. One or some of yours may be missing and causing metal to metal when the room is being retracted. One of mine is cracked but hasn't moved yet but there has been several Posts about replacing these on fairly new coaches. Mine is a 2004 Meridian and I haven't been able to find out how to remove them from either Winnebago or HWH.
Know this isn't very clear and I don't know enough about computers to be able to post a picture but I hope it helps.

Wayne;

I made an appointment last fall at HWH factory to have a leaking jack replaced and they replaced all my big slide nylon pads. Mine had cracked and were partially missing. Wagonmaster2 has given you good advice. Throughly check the visible pads on each ram for missing or cracked pads. I watched the Tech replace the pads and they drill out the top retaining rivets and use a special jack to raise the ram to replace the bottom pad. I would not recommend this process for anybody with out the right equipment and knowledge.

Can you give me an idea of where to look? Is it on the outside looking in. I have electric motors, two on each slide. The motors drive the slides on a gear track.
