Hi - I was poking around the LP tank last weekend and for some reason I've never noticed this connector before. We've barely been camping in the cold so I guess I've never thought about it but next year we are looking at being in Pigeon Forge TN until January and I'm starting to explore heating options... anyway is this an LP input for a big external tank or an output for an outside grill or is it both??
Installed before the regulator, there is a possibility it could be both.
BUT ! only to be used as a LP source for certain BBQs, or the attached line would require it's own regulator.
I'll look for a photo of the , Extend-a-stay, hardware to see if that connection matches up.

Kelm130, looks like a Extend-A-Stay. The bottom is for the hose going to the grill and the small cap on the side is the connection for a external tank. Do a search for extend-A-stay to fine the hoses you need.

Looks like from the pricing I found that a complete kit, with all new parts would be cheaper than replacement hoses.

IMO the connector pictured is BOTH.
I use mine as an "input" with an external 20 lb LP cylinder to extend campground stays..... and I use it as an "output" for my outside grill and/or my propane lantern and/or a Coleman Camping Oven.
However anything connected to it to use it as an "output" must be designed to use "tank pressure"... (have it's own LP pressure regulator).
Thanks all for the info!! I am really thrilled with this discovery. The previous owner added a lot of after market options. Buying used has so many advantages! Bugs and recalls worked out and the add-ons.
