LP Guage in coach does not work always reads full?

Hi Guys:

My old LP guage on the LP tank had one of the wires coming from the guage broken off. It always showed FULL inside the coach on the panel.

I purchased a new LP guage $53.00 bucks from my dealer, put it on the tank, and hooked up the two new wires to the two connectiors to the wires that I presume are the sending units to the panel in the coach. The new guage reads 3/4 full on tank.. but it still says FULL on the panel in the coach.

Any advice. I thought I may have the wires crossed, but switched them around, still reads full all the time.

Any advice would be helpfull.

Thanks Jim P.

Hi Jim,
I'll be watching your post for some answers, too. I have a 2003 Dutch Star DP and my gauge works great on the tank but reads full inside on the panel. I disconnected the wires, cleaned, & reinstalled them. Still reads the same.

Maybe someone else has had the same problem and has a fix to share.
Best of Luck.

Do you have a small adjustment pot below indicator and newer displays adjust by holding buttons down.

allowing for the 'expansion' room... a "full" LP tank is never more than 3/4 full.

maybe we need a pounds or gallons gauge?

A couple of ways to adjust tank levels found.
A LP tank is only 80% full when full, I adjust it full on display.

Hi Guys:

I have no adjustment pot below my controls? I have a Winnie/Itasca not a Newmar.

My old plastic gauge reading on the LP tank was less than half full, broken wire, read FULL on inside panel.

I will double check the lines running from the LP tank to control board. Maybe another break.

Like I said, I paid $53.00 for this little plastic guage with the two wire clips, just want to be able to read my LP amount left in tank from inside.

I will aslo wait until I use more LP, maybe it will register then. I doubt that my control panel is that accurate, 3/4 tank full, which is max, reading FULL inside.

Regards.. Jim P.

Hi 007
Thanks for the tip. When the tank gets down to half on the LP tank gauge, I will make the adjustment to see if that works. If so, then I will have the tank filled then check to see if there is another adjustment needed.
Thanks for your help.
