I recently purchased a 2004 Itasca Horizon 40AD about six months ago. For the life of me I can't find a switch that controls the driver's side map light(overhead next to side window and curtain). The passenger map light is controlled by a switch on the side console next to the passenger seat, so I would assume the driver's map light would be on the left side console, but no... Any of you Horizon/Vectra drivers have any suggestions? Thanks.

Probably full travel on dash light controller like my Journey. I had the same problem and felt a little silly when I found it. I am sure the post purchase review covered it, but that review was like drinking from a fire hose.
Hope this helps.

Try rotating the headlight switch until it clicks.

As previously noted, rotate the dash light level wheel to full bright and that will turn on the map light, just like the dome light in a car. It's only obvious once you've figured it out

Finding the driver's map light switch on a Winne/Itasca is part of the rite of passage. I must say it is more rewarding when you figure it out on your own, but glad we are here to help.

I feel so dumb..... glad it wasn't just me. To make it worse there was no bulb in the lamp so I didn't see it go on when I used the dash control. 8-\
Thanks people!

NO success here. I have a dash light controller rotary knob which does bright/dim the instrument console. It is separate from the headlight knob, which is the typical pull-on type, and also rotates. Rotating the headlight knob does nothing that I can observe. I even changed the map light bulb, so that's not it. I could suspect that the rotary switch in the headlight knob is defective. The electrical wiring diagram I downloaded doesn't give me any useful information. I guess it's time for a call to Winnie Customer Service.

I assume the switch on the light itself is turned on.

Kent, when you rotate the dash light controller 'wheel' do you feel a 'click' just before full bright? If so, that's when the map light should come on.

This post has made me feel really good, just like trying to find the CB radio leads I too felt like I was not real bright when looking for the on switch. It took a call to Forest City to "in lighten" me.
