MCD powered roller blinds service?

Greetings!! --
Every time we go out, we break something. <sigh>.

This time it was the front windshield powered roller blinds. On the front we have two: A solar blind that is semi-transparent and then a night time blind for privacy/room darkening.

We pulled into the Manchester Beach KOA (exciting drive with our 37 foot motorhome) and the solar blind fell out of one side of the mount. I managed to get it stuffed back up there but its not right. At the very minimum it will need to be "retrained".

These are factory installed MCD blinds.

Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom about fixing these things? Any experience with getting them repaired? They are (naturally) hard to access and this is maybe a job I want to pay someone to do.

I have MCD through out my entire coach. There are clip retainers screwed into the ceiling that basically looks like a square Letter "C" Here's the MCD owners/installation manual http://www.mcdinnovations.com/downlo...-4-website.pdf

If your was installed early, instructions called for two mounting brackets (clips). That instruction was subsequently changed to 4 for the windshield. Download the instructions for reprogramming - keep at it until you have the desired limits. The task isn't difficult but requires precise following of directions. Get a couple of new clips - the shade is simple to install if you do it correctly but likely difficult to do for the first time in the windshield. Good luck.

and there should be a "learning switch" for each shade. "re-training" them is simple but you may need a second person as our "learning switch" in on the passenger side whereas the shade controls are on the driver's side. part of the re-training is pressing both at the same time. the specific procedure should be in your owner's manual.

As an aside, my powered MCD night shade is moving very slowly when near the top. Could something be sticking or does this mean that the motor is about to die?
Also, does everyone else hate the "learning" procedure as much as me?

well, I don't know about hate but it could've been a lot easier.

I went looking for this switch, opened a box on the side where the blinds are powered and encountered an incredibly morass of wires all in looms.

Does anyone know where the learning switch is? What does it look like? I have seen the thing on MCDs website.

Look at the second post of this thread where I posted the link to the MCD manual. Go to page 8 and you'll see the learning switch. Some have just 2 wires you short together others have a momentary button. Read the manual.

The switches for the MCD shades on my coach are dangling from the wires and just tucked up into the space at the end of the shades on the passenger side. It took two of us to reprogram the shades.
