Mirror screeching.

I took my Journey Express 34Y to Oklahoma over the weekend just as a shakedown trip before we head west next week. Other than a bumping noise around the front overhead TV on rough spots in the road (which I will eventually find a remedy), I had a screeching noise coming from the drivers power mirror. I looked at it when I got home and it appears that the way I need to adjust the mirror from my drivers seat leaves the upper right hand corner of the mirror touching the plastic housing ever so slightly. Add wind at 65-70 mph and the screech is like someone's fingernails on a chalkboard.

I was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue and what repair they used to fix the problem. These mirrors seem awfully cheap but when I looked them up on line, they are quite expensive. I would certainly like to remedy my excessive noise situation if anyone has a clue to what repair is required.

I have not had this same problem ... however I have found that "half" of stick on Velcro does wonders in providing padding in tight spots ... I generally use the "loop" half for the padding ... (I throw the "hook" half away)

You can reposition the housing by rotating it after loosening an allen head screw then adjust the mirror more to the middle of it's range. There is a PDF file from the WIT Club News-June 2008 about this.
