The topper awning on my small bedroom slide (closet) keeps creeping forward on the roller every time I roll it in. I've tried several times to correct this by moving it backward in the slot. I put a screw thru the awning into the slot as called for by the manual (which hadn't been done), but that didn't cure it either.

Does somebody know the trick for correcting this?

tom ...

We have a 2004 39W Journey

On the top of my rear (bed) slide there is a strip to help the slidetopper glide over the top of the slideout

About a year ago the back half of that strip came off ... and my slide topper was winding crooked ... I called Winnebago and they told me that I would need to take it to Winnebago to have the strip replaced ... but I was leaving in 2 days on an extended caravan outing ...

SOOOO

1) I noticed the strip looked like the loop side of sticky back velcro ... so I went to a nearby fabric store and bought 3 ft of velcro.

2) I extended my rear slide about a foot ... then I used a short block of wood and some duct tape to hold it in place so that the anti-furling arm was caught on the block of wood ... then I retracted the slide so that there was lots of slack in the topper ... I then attached the loop half of the velcro that I bought at the fabric store on the top edge of the slideout ...

3) then I extended the slide, removed the duct tape and the block of wood....

That was more than a year ago ... my awning is still rolling up fine ... and the loop half of the velcro is still on the slide topper ... I have not been to a dealer to have it replaced

SkiGramp - thanks for the info. Both my toppers were replaced after hurricane damage in '04. I don't have and have never had any kind of strip like you're describing. There are a couple of other Journeys nearby so I'm going to take a close look tomorrow and then go looking for a fabric store. Thanks again!
