I have a 2006 Itasca Model 35U. The "Monitor" Panel Ceiling Light has stopped working and I suspect a burned out bulb. When I got up close to look at it , I could not determine how to dissassemble and replace bulb.

Before I do a "fat fingered removal and fix"...I'd appreciate experience and "easy" procedures from other members that have fixed this light.

Thanks,

Pubtym

If it is flush to the ceiling like ours, just push on the outer frame and twist off. Do not attempt to pry it off with a screwdriver! Just push and twist.

Thanks Glenda...mine must be slightly different.

I went back at it today and found that the outer frame has a cover that snaps off. The outer mount has two small screws attaching it to the ceiling.

I took out the screws and the light assembly dropped down and remained suspended with two wires to the bulb socket. I gently pulled the light assembly away from the bulb socket mount...then pulled the small bulb out of the hanging socket.

Observation: The light assembly was scorched pretty bad on the surfaces out to 1 /2 inch from the bulb. That little bulb gets really hot..therefore the warning on the assembly about potential fire. The assembly is designed to allow cooling air into the bulb socket area.

Two vents are located on the sides of the adjustable lense cover. However...if the lense cover is focused the wrong way..the vents are blocked and overheat is probable.

Looking at mine...I had swiveled the lense/adjusted it to aim more directly at the wall mounted monitor panel....thereby cutting off required cooling vents..and consequent scorching inside the lamp assembly.

The little halogen bulb is bi-pin. It is a 12 volt 10 watt/T3 bi-pin. I found replacement at True Value Hardware. GE Bulb, Item number 97668...about $6..maybe $15 at RV dealer..

Conclusion...eventhough the lamp assembly has a swivel focus lense...leave it alone..
