Our coach is winterized and we are going to be driving in near zero conditions next weekend as we head south. Our coach is equipped with the motoraid hot water heater and coach heater. Is there a potential for harm to the Atwood hot water heater, which is empty, during the drive until we are into more temperate weather and we de-winterize the water system?
As always, thanks for your advice.

The water for the motoraid system comes from the engine. It's simply a length of piping welded to the outside of the water heater with engine coolant running through it. The water temp would be the same temp as the engine coolant (below 220F). This low of a temperature cannot damage the water heater. My rig has been winterized and the water heater emptied. I take it out every month for a 50 mile exercise run.

I have made many trips in the winter to Fl with an empty water heater. The motor aid will not harm your HWH. It is passive but worth its weight in gold.

Question: is there potential or damage to the Attwood with the motor aid and the Attwood WH empty?

Short Answer: NO.

Long answer:it is designed to work that way, It was driven to the dealership for your initial pickup (or the original owner's pick up) that way. No danger.

hopper54, Homer and wa8yxm,
Thanks for your replies - my message was sent in a moment of absolute brain drain - I too exercise my winterized motor home at least once per month, and have done so for a number of years. Old age is H#@* - but beats the alternative.
