I am interested in a discussion of covers for motor homes. Are they useful, or do they damage the coach? Anyone with experience with such would be helpful to me.

Covers can move in wind and rub on things and create marks. Personally I don't use one. Winnebago has endorsed a line of covers and has allowed their brand to be put on them so apparently they don't have a problem with them anymore. A year or two their manuals said covers were not required or recommended.

Ya, and Winnebago is getting into selling all kinds of things. Even insurance.
Personally I think covers are a pain. I had one and gave it away without ever taking it out of the box.

Our (used) 02 Georgetown 325 came with one, presumably purchased by the original owners. Since the owners' handbook for the MH specifically advised not to walk on the roof and it was very heavy and cumbersome, I never used it. It was stashed in the garage until we put it back aboard when we sold the MH.
