Moving toilet

Our toilet, Thetford Aqu-Magic V, sits square with the wall. It is useable, but would be great for me if I could rotate the toilet a bit. There is plenty of room in the bathroom to do it, just not sure how they are mounted to the floor.

So, is it possible? And if so, easy to do?

Ours is mounted just like a residential toilet with a plastic flange fastened to the floor. The flange has slots for the two mounting bolts and the toilet can be rotated over a fairly large range when the bolts are loosened. Just be careful not to mess up the foam seal on the bottom between the toilet and the flange.

is there a replacement foam seal if it is messed up? is this foam seal like the wax seal in home toilets? we would like to adjust our's back about 3 inches, is this possible?

Replacement seals are readily available from rv dealers or Camping World and serve the same purpose as the wax ring in a stick house, only not as messy and probably withstand vibration better.

Moving a toilet back 3" would require moving the mounting flange and the associated pipe to the black water tank. In my opinion that would be a major job that involves cutting and replacing the flooring as well as the plumbing.

The tube from the floor flange goes down through the floor directly into a gromet in the top of the tank. You can rotate the toilet and or the floor flange but nothing else without a lot of work.

The foam seal takes the place of the wax ring but I think may withstand vibration better. They are available at RV stores.

Rotating it would require relocating the hold down bolts, a doable task I would think.
Remove the toilet and take a peek, it should become apparent real quick what the job would take to do.

If you rotate the floor flange which can be done carefully as to not break the pipe from floor flange that goes into tank.
If floor flange suddenly breaks loose from pipe make sure you re-glue flange to pipe because the pipe through vibration will eventually fall into tank.
Before discover it can make for a great mess underneath in holding tank area.
Do not lift up on flange may break seal going into tank.
