Here's my solution to the cheesy tool used to remove the lug-nut covers (jam-nuts) to remove the wheel simulators:
My son-in-law cut the socket off the OEM tool and, using 1" square stock, welded on a 17" extension and put on a 10" handle.
I haven't had the chance to use them yet, but it sure looks like they will do the job without twisting like a soft pretzel. Cost for two tools: $20. Now able to easily check tire pressures: priceless!
P.S. - Northern Tool had a special for a 1" drive 1-9/16" socket ($13 each), so I ordered two. They happen to come in today and I matched them to a spare lug-nut cover; looks like a great fit too.
