I just bout a new Intelipower 9200 60 Amp Smart Converter/Charger. I want to replace the 40 Amp Intelipower one presently in my 2000 35U Winnebago. The reason is the new one has the 4 stage smart charger that my old one doesn't. The 60 Amp aspect doesn't hurt either. The confusion I'm asking about is that the new converter/charger has Red positive and Black negative connections. When I look at the way my existing one is wired, there is a heavy black wire and a heavy green wire going to the converter. I haven't looked yet if this is the same place I have to put the wires on the new one as it is under my stove and not easy to look at withoiut removing.

Any input would be appreciated from the (All Knowing) members.

In the weird world of RV wiring. RED and black. red would be hot. black and white. black would be hot. Red and green.red would be hot. Black and green. black would be hot. You can always use a volt/ohm/meter to check any set of wires you are unsure of. All RV owners should have a volt/ohm/meter. It is a great asset.

Well, Green, is often chassis ground, however there is actually not a "Standard" that I know of epically on the 12 volt side of life.. At least not where you are working at. (There are "Standards of practice" but most RV's the folks who wire it use a different standard than I would in an electronics shop)

Now.. to solve the problem You should (EVERY RVER SHOULD) have a device called a multi meter.

Using the mulit meter measure the voltage on those two wires.

Hook the POSITIVE wire to the red post,, and I assume you can figure out what to do with the other one.
