To begin with I live at the base on the Olympic Mountains in Washington state, about a 45 minute drive to Aberdeen a coastal community. Myself and our five yr old grandson went to town to get gas, since we inherited the Mh. About six months ago and have only added a few gas cans of gas, Make a long story short and lack of skill I scraped the end of the barge rafter which had a screw sticking out. I looked in mirror swore I had plenty of room, WRONG. Anyway I tore the moulding loose from the back passage side of the mh. 3/4s of it is pull off, screws pulled out, I am not rich, and would like to try to fix it myself, Looked at molding can't figure out how to get to the screws. I have a 1996 Winnebago Minnie Winnie 30 ft. So mad almost thought about selling as is, I have done alot of TLC and was all hype up to use it for the first time in the real soon future. Now I am not sure when that will be. Pro is that I am going to ensure I have feet of clearance not inches.
Thank you, Sorry about rattling on and on, still very angry at self

You can absolutely fix this yourself. Don't be mad; all of us have pulled a boner or two with our RVs we've wished we'd never done...

Is the trim piece (I assume you mean the corner piece that covers the top of the sidewall and the edge of the roof) still intact?

What you'll need to do is remove the trim piece and either straighten it or replace it.

Getting up on the roof, and using a good quality elastomeric sealant (not silicone) fill up all the old screw holes where the screws ripped out.

Order some Eternabond double sided tape; lay down a strip of tape wide enough to cover the area that the trim piece covered, then place the trim piece over the tape, ( don't try to match the trim up to exactly where it was before), drill new holes and insert new screws (stainless steel, by preference). Tighten the screws enough to compress the Eternabond tape for a good seal.

While you're up on the roof, check the trim around the other side as well- you may find loose or missing screws which you should caulk and replace.

Senior chief,

Close, but actually its the molding that holds the back and side panel together it looks like a 45 degree molding alum outside with rubber or other material inside it to cover screw heads is my thinking. Not sure due to cannot figure how to remove the rubber piece. Its raining here I pull it together the best I could do by myself. Them applied that blue tape to hold it together and pull the hole, I will try to get a picture posted soon for better clarification.

Thanks for the sport and advice.

Pictures are good. Try posting this in the Vintage Forum with 96 Winnie in the title- maybe someone who is familiar with your year can give you better advice.
