Hello all, just finished my second week of ownership of new to us 1998 Luxor. Have a few issues that need tending. PO started genset from inside coach to demo it- now I can't get genset to start from inside but can start it at genset control panel- I can then shut genset off from inside. Help. There are two solenoids indicated that are supposedly in an electrical panel close to the step-I certainly do not have any such panel inside the coach and can't locate one under the hood so to speak. Second issue- pneumatic stair cover will slide into place but to retract it one has to stomp it down and push it back with foot power- any help. Third issue is auto HVAC- it appears there is no vacuum to shut the heat off-therefore the dash a/c is useless. Where is the vacuum pump located. I have downloaded all the info available from the Winnebago site but can't find a location. Your help is appreciated.

My first thought would be to call Winnebago Customer Service at 800-537-1885. I have always found then to be very helpful.

It could be your switch. It can be checked by pulling the panel and jumping the two wires to the switch and if the gen starts then it is the switch. If it doesn't then it could be a dirty connector or a lose one. If it is a broken wire then you will probably have to run a new one.

I assume you are holding the switch long enough for the generator to pre heat. That being said I would also guess the switch is bad. Do you have a third generator start location? Like the dash or power panel. If so you may be able to do a diagnostic switch swap.

I checked in with Win.Ind. help and they suggested it probably is the switch at the dash. There are 5 wires to it. In their wisdom Win.Ind. colour coded the wires- purple and green-everything is purple and green. Anyway I metered the switch and the shut off side makes contact but the start side is dead with no continuity. The solenoid I was looking for and indicated in the wiring diagram- I was informed is actually the start solenoid on the genset. I've now ordered a replacement switch & thanks to the downloaded info from Win.Ind. I was able to tell the 12 year old partsman the correct part number. Still need a solution to resolve my other issues- any help? and thank you for the info to contact Winnebago, they were a great help.

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. May well be either a disconected/loose hose or a crack in one. The only suggestion I have is to try and check all of the connections for tightness and for cracks.
