new couch and dinette

Has anybody replaced their couch and dinette?? winnebago stuff?? or aftermarket?? which do you like best??
I have been in ours for 5 years and it's done. need new cushions at least.

We don't have a dinette....have the table and chairs and they are still in great shape. We did jettison the Rest-Easy sofa. It was ugly from the get-go. We investigated getting it recovered but decided to just replace it with a nice Lazy Boy reclining love seat:



We never used the Rest Easy for sleeping so that was not a big deal for us. Actually, I wanted a small sofa (long enough for a good afternoon nap) but the DW really wanted the love seat. You can see who won that battle. In our search for a replacement, we did find some smaller sofas and sofa beds that would have fit in the space. However, all the reclining seating (Lazy Boy, Berkline) have easily removable backs which made it pretty easy to get them thru the entry door.

wow....looks great. How does one attach the new couch to the floor of the slide? Also, with us having seatbelts in our factory couch, can those be fed up thru the new couch also? Our 6 yr old loves riding in her carseat near us instead of in the dinette.

Replaced the original unconfortable couch with another unconfortable couch (Flexsteel). Just replaced the second couch with 2 wonderful, confortable, wall hugger,swivel recliners. Now we can watch tv without turning our heads 90 degrees. Naps come all too frequently.

My wife recovered all of our furniture with Ultra Leather Plus - including the captains chairs.

We got some very good quality high density foam and replaced the foam in the dinette seat cushions.
Down the road we will replace the foam in the couch.

I would love to hear more about that process. I would love to recover our couch and don't even know how to begin. I can sew but I've never tackled a couch before. Pics??

I was the grunt labor and Lee did all the real work.
I removed the fabric and she used that as a pattern for cutting the Ultraleather.
The dinette was easy. The couch was a little harder because of the size and the hog rings used to attach the fabric to the metal rods used in the construction of the couch.
The captain chairs were probably but the same process was used.

We bought a pair of hog ring pliers and a couple of bags of hog rings at a local fabric store.

Her inexpensive sewing machine that we carried with us gave up the ghost quickly. We were in Bouse AZ for the winter. We went to Lake Havasu City and couldn't one that was suitable there. The best machine we found there was a Bernina, but they said it wasn't suitable for sewing Ultraleather.

We went back to Bouse and bought a 75 year old White machine in a junk store for $25. No fancy stitches but made of real metal and it did a great job sewing the Ultraleather.

We used the existing seat belts to hold the new love seat. Since we don't have anyone sitting in the love seat while moving, we just fed the seat belts thru the back of the love seat, clipped them together and cinched them down tight. They are hidden between the seat backs and the seat bottoms so you don't see them. The love seat never moves while traveling.
