New flooring

Hi, We own a 2003 32ft Sunrise Itasca. We want to pull out old carpeting and replace with Lifeproof Rigid Core Luxury Vinyl Flooring. We have 2 slides. This is free floating. Has anyone used this product ? Will the slides going in and out damage the floor? We are replacing all carpeting but we are going to recarpet front seat area and use heat / sound barrier before recarpeting. We will appreciate any input on the product and faults. Thank You.

New Flooring

We purchased a new to us 2007 Journey 34sh a few years back. We do not care for carpet in our bricks and sticks and are mystified why it is used in a moho. You can't clean carpet, it just helps you hide the dirt. (No? wait until you pull it up) So we took it out. Removal was a piece of cake. We have a main salon slide out and a bedroom slide out. Hardest part was removing the nailing strips under the slide outs and peeling the glued on underlayment from the plywood subfloor. Tiled areas came up easily with the use of a hair dryer. Then sealed the ply area with proper seal for the tile we used. We put down Armstrong "Terraza" vinyl 1ft x 2ft self adhesive tiles. Have had it for three years and love it. So much that we are getting ready to do a color change. If you have ever layed tile in a house, you can lay tile in a moho.

The slides do not mar the tile, however, couch did when we extended it. Remedied with larger diameter castors. Think of it. the slides are designed to smoothly open over a 3/8 in underlayment and another 5/8 in of carpet. tile is only about 1/8 in.

Caveat: although the tile is self adhesive, a THIN coat of tile adhesive was applied (belt and suspenders). Even so, in the area of the slides, we experienced a tile "creep" of the edge tiles trying to escape through the slide gaskets since there is no wall to prevent it, and opening up unsightly seam edge cracks. We solved that by stapling the outermost tiles in the slide area to the subfloor. two staples per tile, as close to the slideout floor as your stapler will allow. No, you do not even notice them. But if you are as anal as are we, a little matching fingernail polish on the staples will cause them to blend in.

Wonderful!! no more nasty, dirt catching, smelly carpet!
