New house batteries not holding charge

2007 35A Adventurer was in the shop for slide repairs. I drove it home. A couple days later, the batteries were completely dead and would not hold a charge. Purchased new batteries and while plugged into a 30 amp pedestal, they still will not charge. I start the engine to re-charge the batteries. Is there a transfer switch that failed, or what could be wrong?

Punkym1242-

Which batteries are not charged/charging- chassis, house, or both?

Which chassis- Ford or Workhorse?

Is your coach's converter/charger turned on?

Is your house battery disconnect switch on?

When they worked on your coach, did they disconnect any battery leads? On which battery bank(s)?

Troubleshooting logic

If you could start the engine, I believe the problem is with the house batteries.

If so, since they are new, and should at least be 'mostly' charged, and they are now discharged in a few days, I would think that your battery disconnect is in the on position.

Could be your inverter, if equipped, is on and drawing power.

If all true, and inverter is not on, focus on the converter. Put a meter on the terminals when plugged in.

It is either insufficient charging in or too much draw out.

If in is not good focus on converter fuses, cb's, connections- if all good converter itself may have given up the ghost.

Just my way of thinking through the problem. Good luck

house batteries charge, but don't hold charge. When plugged into shore power they still drain. @ brand new 6 volt batteries
