New radio in Journey?
My Sony radio has stopped working. The CD player works fine but not the radio. I checked new radios at Walmart and Best Buy and found one or two that might fit my Journey, but they all need an "installation kit" that is brand specific (Chevy, Ford, etc.).
Has anybody out there replaced their radios???How did you do it???
Also, most of the new radios seem to have one button that controls everything. The "old fashioned" ones I like had push buttons to save stations, etc. Will an older one work if I found one at a junk yard?

I recently replaced the old Sony dash radio in my 2000 Adventurer with a nice new JVC with Bluetooth and a USB port. I did not need an installation kit at all - the hardware that came with the radio was all I needed. The wiring colors matched exactly and I was able to connect red to red, blue to blue, etc. However, the new radio did not quite fit the dash opening and I had to enlarge it some. It was really not a problem to do and the new radio is a great improvement over the old one. No more pile of CDs laying around getting lost or damaged.

If you are wanting to replace a 1 1/2 DIN sized radio, take a look at my install at this link (scroll to bottom of thread). All that was required is a slight modification to the opening.

I replaced my old Sony with a more modern Sony. Really easy! Love using a memory stick with hundreds of songs on it.

1 1/2 din radios are really tough to find. I replaced mine with a 2 din. I filled in the inset around the radio with epoxy and painted it with matching dash paint (purchased from a car detailing place). The result looks like it was always there.
