So we made it from AZ to FL in our new to us 03 Journey DP. The house batteries were smelly so I replaced them Tuesday...3 new 12V 27 series. Cleaned all connections but now inverter/charger not working. Checked all connections I touched...all clean and tight...checked fuse link, it's OK. Turned Freedom 15 Inverter/Charger on and off, reset breakers on same...I'm out of ideas and new batteries are slowly fading away (now down to 12.0). Any help is appreciated

Does your inverter work OK? If it does than it is hooked up properly. If not I would suspect a cable got hooked up wrong. I have to disconnect my inverter/charger every time I check the battery water and have never had a problem.

Don...Thanks for your reply. The inverter was not working either. All connections were clean and tight and correct (I took a photo before disconnecting). Your post made me think that it had to be in the connections so I took everything apart and then I hooked the batteries one at a time to the chassis, from back to front. Everything now works perfectly. Before I had hooked all the batteries together and then connected them to the chassis. Go figure. Thanks very much for your reply...Jim

Sounds like another of those things where you just have to stand on one foot and face the east... Gremlins come standard with RVs I think.

BTW, I couldn't find info on what kind of rig you have so you might want to add that info to your signature.

Take care....

Glad you got it working. I did that once and missed the rear positive cable, which must feed the inverter. Things got kinda weird till I did what you did and went back over everything. First rule of troubleshooting, look at the last thing worked on.

My guess is that the cables to the inverter were overlooked. It's ok to admit it since it's unusual to connect cables to both ends of the battery bank.

Don't ask me how I know this can happen.
