A big Hello to everyone. Next Monday (the 21st) we will have our Adventurer (Hilda) one year.

First a special thanks to everyone who has replied to all my posts on some of the issues we have had in the first year.

Transmission fluid, windshield leaks, levelers not retracting, shock replacement and what kind of dog gate do you use have been some of the topics that I have asked about and all have been answered by some of the people who I have never met in my life.

Last year we drove around 4,800 miles and spent around one month sleeping in.

Again, thanks to everyone.

Good to hear everything worked out well through year one. Best of luck for year two.

I read your writeup on Mahlon Dicherson, we spent a weekend there a few weeks back. Their sewer system had been damaged by Irene but because of that it was only $14 a night. We also enjoyed it because of all the hiking trails as we also travel with a dog and finding places to let him run is important.

I was wondering if you have tried Turkey swamp Park down in Freehold? We found this to be one of our favorite local spots. They too have lots of hiking trails and a lake. Our Springer really loves to swim so this is a big bonus. They have 30 amp electric and water but only a dump station. It's a county park so it's a lot like the Mahlon reservation. We're a bit south of you in Bridgewater and it takes us 1-1/2 hours to get there in Friday night traffic.

Maybe we'll run into one another out there!

Small world (USA) isn't it? This will be our second trip to Alabama for Christmas. I do enjoy your shore line!

Hello Don & Cindy.. Yes and no? We have visited Turkey Swamp Park just for the day over the summer but did not stay with the motorhome.

We walked through the campground there and noticed the sites were a little tight with a lot of low hanging branches. Is that your experience? What sites do you recommend ?

We still think a visit in 2012 might be in order. We would like to visit the shore area and Turkey Swamp does not look far from there.

We do love Mahlon Dickerson, it is around one hour from home, there is great hiking, bicycling either on the road or off and we have some friends that live in the area that like to stop over when we are there.

We are not far from Bridgewater, exit 11 off of I-78 for us.

Keep in touch we like to do a trip in March / April to give all the system a workout before the season.

Our favorite is B-4, B-6, and B-8. The nice thing is the way all of the sites parallel the road so your yard and view is of the Forrest ant pretty big. If you walked row A, there are so many low trees that they don't even allow motor homes on there.

Roe E to the left also has large sites and it's not uncommon to see Bus type Class A's with tandem axles in there.

If you try the place, look at their site map, you'll notice that the roads are one way but have campsites on both sides. Row B has all of the even sites on the right so when you pull in, you awning is on the wooded side. The odd sites require you to go the wrong way down the row to get the awning on the correct side which a lot of people don't do and subsequently, don't have a very nice time.

It's tight in spots but I can get my Class A through without hitting anything solid except for the occasional Pomeranian, (bump... what was that?). I try not to worry about the branches hitting the rig because I prefer wooded campgrounds and it goes with the territory.
