I recently traded for an 08 Horizon with a front kitchen. That puts the TV halfway back in the coach. However, all of the rest of the entertainment equipment is still in the front overhead. I also had to have my DirecTV DVR replaced. The new one does not have a coax out plug but it does have a coax in and a full set of in/out RCA jacks (red/white/yellow). Makes it a little tough when you only have coax in/out in the coach. DirecTV tells me that all of their new DVRs (standard and hi def) are configured this way. The solution is an RF Modulator from Radio Shack ($28). About the size of two cigarette packs it converts A/V signals to coax signals. My connections are from the sat antenna coax out to the DVR coax in, then from the DVR RCA out to the modulator RCA in the from the modulator coax out to the coach coax in. The modulator also has an S Video plug so that can also be used in the same way as the RCA jacks for the video. You will still have to use the red/white RCA plugs for audio.

Only having the option to do channel 3/4 is not the greatest situation for your TV. There used to be wireless boxes that would transmit composite video and L/R audio - that would provide a little better TV experience.

The RF modulator is a good solution in lieu of no other choice though.

Can't you just run some new rca, hdmi or component cables back to the tv to get the most out of the hd dvr. I have a similar coach and will be doing that when I upgrade the satellite antenna to hd.

Running new cables is time consuming but fairly easy.

That is something that I will have to determine if I upgrade the sat receiver. I have an HD sat antenna. I know of no way to get any wire from the front to the middle without surface wiring and my particular run would involve a slide.

I have routed some wires from the front of my coach (similar floor plan and slides as yours) to the rear underneath thru the frame rails. The existing coax goes from the front cabinets to the area under the bed and then into the slide which can be easily seen if you lift the bed up (which is hinged, there are 3 or 4 screws holding the bed platform to the bed frame at the foot of the bed). Then it is easy to fish wires thru the hallway cabinet into the tv area.

The wires can also easily be run down the right side in the cargo bays following existing wire bundles to the underside of the bed.

This might not be for everyone but it is pretty easy to do.

Since my Kingdome may have just failed I might be replacing it with a motosat HD antenna, If I do I will upgrade the sat receiver and run the proper cabling to the tv.

Jim
