No Tail Lites on Toad

The tail lites on my toad quit. Everything else works----turn signals and brake lites. I would think that there is a fuse somewhere in this rig that controls the power to that thing. There are 2 in the box under the hood and one for the light switch inside. I'm looking for suggestions. Maybe I should just start pulling fuses and check for continuity?

The first time I would do is use a voltmeter at the back of the motorhome to see if you have 12 volts when the tail lights are on. That way you can determine if the problem is in the motorhome or cable and toad. Keep using the meter until you find the problem. Using a voltmeter is much better than pulling and checking fuses.

Nothing there----- that's why I think it's a fuse!

Check the male pins in the tow cable connections. I sometimes find a pin crimps and therefore does not make a good connection. I then use a very fine blade, like a razor knife, to spread the pin, and I find that all works again.

well finhawk, ya just gonna have to finds that dadburn problem.
betcha it's a fuse or your hook up is not making connection at the coach plug. maybe the tail light wire has slipped a little not making contact.

I am confused. You used a VOM to check that you have 12V to the plug at the back of the MH and it is OK but not the end of the cord that plugs into the toad? If it is a 4 prong adapter going from the RV to the toad you should be able to see the 12V at the end of the adapter.

Trailer or toad light hook ups are a PIA aren't they?

I found it!!!!!! There is a fuse that controls the side marker lights and the running lights. A 10 amp in the box inside the coach. I would never have realized that might be the problem until I noticed that both the side marker lites were out. One might burn out but not both at the same time. A lot of looking but success in the end!!!!!
