Yesterday in cooler weather I decided to check the coach heater, controlled on the dash with low and high speed toggle switch.

The motor or something gave out a loud and constant noise, somewhat like a stuck bearing.

Some years ago I recall some posts regarding this sort of issue on the '02 Itascas but I now fail to locate them.

Any info on the cause of this noise and solution would be helpful. We do travel sometimes in cooler weather and having a working coach heater would be nice.

As usual, thanks in advance.

If you do a search on this forum you should find several posts. I had the same problem with mine. Either the shaft in the armature lets loose or the fan moves out on the shaft. The fan starts grinding on the case. In my case I had to remove the motor assembly and replace it with a new one. It works fine now. In some cases the motor can be removed with out removing the heater assembly and in others I heard where the water heater had to be removed to get at the heater.

When you repair it lets us know what you find.

Don
