Our bedroom ceiling fan wobbles slightly in the hub area and makes a clunking noise. I took off the big acorn nut on the bottom of the hub, but that didn't release the plate that mounts the blades. This plate is the part that wobbles and has excessive play in it. I'd like to try to eliminate the play, but can't figure out how to get it off. Probably a safety feature to keep little kids like me (at heart) from taking it apart.

Anybody know how to crack this open? Anybody else had to deal with the clunk-clunk-clunk?

I have the same problem. The blades have been perfectly balanced but the noise still persists. In fact it is so noisy that it is impossible to sleep with the fan on. The shaft that holds the blades to the motor seems loose but I see no way to tighten it. I am taking it back to the dealer in April. Hope he has a new fan for me by that time.

I have the same problem. When I was at the factory having other problems corrected I also listed this problem. When they finished the unit that day they walked me through all the repairs and at the end said we also fixed the fan. OK. I should have checked it because it rattles and makes all the same noise as when it went in. Sure would like to know the fix here.
On the same subject I sure can't understand why they didn't put a three way fan contrl in that you could turn off and on while in bed. Who wants to get up and shut off the fan?? Sometimes its clear the people who design these things have never used them!
