From the get go I had some hissing from the steering box after a long run...checked with FL and they said it was related to heat and not indicative of a problem.

Recently did steering fluid flush/refill and it was no better. Now that I've installed the Tru Center, it hisses every time I turn the wheel. Steering feels OK but just quite noisy.

Perhaps this is a FL quirk? Any suggestions?

Reading this tells me you're hearing the "hissing" more often since you added the Tru-Center. Sounds like the pump unit is doing a little more "work" to turn the wheels (which one might expect).
If it were me, I wouldn't ignore it completely, but I'd continue to use it and "keep an ear out". If it starts getting more pronounced, I'd make that trip to FL service.

I have the same situation with my 03 Horizon. After driving a couple hours it begins to hiss or squeal which is a little louder in a left turn than right turn. I've asked about it at 3 Freightliner dealers & all have told me the same thing you've been told, so I quit worrying about it. Must just be a design thing.

Same Problem on my 02.

Best Solution: Turn the radio up.
