Norcold 683 ice maker manual

Just bought a '94 Adventurer that has a Norcold 683 with an icemaker. I have no instructions on the ice maker. How does it work, when does it fill, etc. Any suggestions where I can get any manuals?

Here's a link to the Norcold tech info page. I don't see your model listed, but if you click on any model it gives you an 800 # to call for support.

Ice makers do require AC power to operate (the mechanism) and will not operate on battery only. When the freezer gets cold enough, it should begin operating on it's own. The wire arm that goes across the area where it dumps cubes is the only on/off switch. Raise it up till it clicks for OFF or push it down for ON. There will also be a water shutoff valve somewhere, probably under your sink area. There may also be a water shutoff behind the outside access panel to the frig. Good luck and enjoy your new rig!!

Already called them, they had no idea. Icemaker is not in users guide.

Thanks, this is most help I've had. I saw the wire arm laying loose in tray, had no idea what it was. Will look under sink for a water line.

In addition to the link you were provided above, try this. Go to the service documents page and you should be able to find a complete tech service manual for your fridge by model number, and also owner's manuals on the same site.

Thanks, been there. They don't have the 683 and the service doc for icemakers won't load in either explorer or netscape.

I plan to try all the suggestions this weekend.

In addition to the previous posts, you may find that your icemaker's water supply line is dry if it hasn't been used. Our icemaker has an electrically-operated cycle valve behind the fridge and a cycle timer located under the icemaker's front cover in the freezer. Under this front cover is a dial that can be manually rotated (to the right in our case) to start a dump/refill cycle. I've had to manually cycle the icemaker as many as 10-12 times (at least) to get water to the icemaker and get it working when the supply line is completely dry.

Sorry, I don't know if this specifically applies to your particular model, but maybe it will help in your troubleshooting.

I'll have to look again under the cover, but I think it said on the dial to NOT rotate manually.

Could be - ours is a Dometic and has an arrow indicating direction of rotation. Perhaps yours operates strictly off a timer, in which case it may be days before it goes through enough cycles to get water up to the icemaker.

Romer you would want the manuals for the 600 series fridges from the Bryant site. All the service documents are in Adobe Acrobat format. You need Acrobat reader (free from Adobe site) to download the manuals.

Thanks. I've downloaded the service manual and the owners manual for the 600 series. Problem is they don't cover the icemaker. The site you gave me has a manual for the icemaker, but Adobe doesn't like it. It errors out every time I try to download/view it. I have Adobe reader v7.0.

I just tried to download the icemaker service bulletin too. I also had problems with an incorrect color space error. I can get the text to come through, but not the pictures. Chris Bryant (owner) participates on several forums and has made these manuals available to all of us. I will send him an email and advise of the problem with this particular document.
