Norcold hinge repair

I have a Norcold LRIM1200 4 door fridge that had the hinge plastic on the door fail and the door dropped down to where I had to lift it each time I wanted to close it.

Since we are on the road for the summer getting parts proved difficult so I went to LOWES for a bronze flange bearing and a nylon flat spacer.

The bearing is 1/4x3/15/32x1/2 and the spacer is 1/2x.257x1/4

Simply unscrew the bottom hinge pin with the door closed then slowly and carefully pull the bottom of the door out and insert the bronze bearing. Realign the door over the hinge plate and place the nylon spacer under the door. Reinsert the hinge pin and tighten. All better now.

Hope this helps. Total cost $3.84

Roy,
Glad you got the frige workable again. Is this a permanent fix that should last? or just to get by while you're traveling?

I was wondering if you could post a picture of the hinge you repaired, so we could get a better idea of how the bearing fixes the problem you had.

My door broke apart completely so I also did a Lowe's part repair. I bought two L-brackets to repair the bottom of both large doors. In this photo one bracket is mounted and painted black and the 2nd bracket is shown for reference.

Happy trails,
Bill
