Like many others I'm looking at replacing my Norcold 1201. Fortunately the Norcold is still cooling ok, so this is not an immediate need. The challenge in my 2004 AD(and perhaps the 2005 as well) model is the Norcold is in the curb-side slide. The height of the slide limits the available vertical to 67 7/8" maximum. This rules out the Samsung 197, which on the IRV2 Forum seems to be the most popular replacement. I have not found a counter-depth model with H x W measurements anywhere close to the Norcold size. Height seems to be the limiting factor in selection of a replacement. I have found the Whirlpool/Kenmore/Maytag 20/21 c.f. top-freezer and side-by-side models(about 66"H x 33"W) would fit the hole with a minimum of trimming/moulding, and their cost in the $900-1200 range. The challenge is the depth on these models is about 33-34", and the actual depth of the slide is only about 24". This would require maybe some plywood on angle iron supports under the front 8-10" of refrigerator that is cantilevered out from and not supported by the slide. It would also require perhaps supporting diagonal metal straps from the top outside of the slide to the bottom front of the reefer. Aisleway clearance is not a problem, fortunately, for these larger depth refrigerators. Has anyone done this replacement yet in the slide-mounted Winne models? I'm looking for ideas here, guys. Thanks.
