Now that I have a ScanGauge II....
Like to do a little poll here and get some recommendations. Now that I have a ScanGauge II, I have to program it. Considering that I can get some info from my Actia on the front panel, what data do members use the most when they are driving (what's need to know, what's nice to know, and what's I programmed it but never used it?)
I have a 2005 Winnie Adventurer 37 with the Chebby 8.1 L Vortec V-8 and a Workhouse Chassis. Sorry Workhorse Chassis. Thanks in advance.
Jim, Val and the damn cat; 2005 Winnie Adventurer 37B, Banks Air and Exhaust, Banks Otto Tune, anti-sway,anti-roll, Blue Ox towing a 2014 Subaru Forester with a manual trannie and a Break Buddy system, a black water tank that seems to be always 1/3rd full, and a Garmin GPS that is always about 10 seconds late in telling me to change lanes.

Scan Guage II
I usually set mine to read the intake air temp., RPM, instant and average MPG. Sometimes I use the MPH or cost per mile/gallons per hour.

I use Speed, Engine water temp, Transmission temp, and MPG.
Speed since the digital readout is more accurate than the dashboard speedometer
Engine water temp because the stock GM dashboard gauges are notorious for being inaccurate
Transmission temp because I tow a race car trailer and like to monitor the tranny temp
MPG to assist in staying in overdrive as long as possible without an automatic downshift and subsequent full throttle. When approaching a slight hill or overpass, I watch the MPG decrease as the cruise control provides more gas to maintain speed. I know the MPG point where the transmission will downshift, and as I near this, I jog "Pause" on the cruise control stalk. This lowers the speed slightly and the tranny stays in overdrive. Sometimes I jog pause several times, and loose 3 -4 MPH, then slide the "add" button to get back to the previous speed after getting back on level road. Of course, a sufficient grade requires a downshift, but my little game gives me something to to when trundling down the interstate. The idea is to not leave the cruise control on when approaching a grade because this will allow an automatic downshift and full throttle in an attempt to regain whatever speed is set. I very rarely use WOT (Wide Open Throttle) and we usually travel at 62-65 MPH.

I "usually" monitor air intake temp, water temp, RPMs, and alternate between MPG and OLF. MPG is too depressing to watch constantly, and OLF changes so slowly it really only needs to be checked weekly or perhaps monthly.
I would LIKE to monitor TFT, but the SG II can't do that if your Allison is a 6 speed.
Good luck with programming those "X-gages", that can be a real PITA.

I finally figured out how to get the tyranny temp in there. Like your idea for keeping in O. D. Will try in on I-40 in AZ. this week.

I have an UltraGauge and have used it for about three years.
Watched coolant temperature because Actia gauge never moved off the middle of the scale.
