Has anybody run into this?

New unit with about 3k miles. First time I am checking the oil level. This is after I noticed the warning lable and read the Cat owners manual.

It talks about establishing the oil level after compensating for the engine installation angle. I assume that this was done at Winnebago or during the PDI ( I better dont get started on the PDI )

Anyway, parked level with the engine off for several hours the level is below the 'Add" mark.

By now I have added 4 quarts, ran the engine till warm and let it sit for hours. The oil level has not changed one bit. Still at the Add mark.

Any one with experiances in this area??

Thanks in advance!

Yes Wolfgang,

I was at the dealers to have my door lock fixed which was discovered before I took delivery. I asked them to check all of the fluid levels before I started on a 7000 mile trip. They added six quarts of oil to my Cat 350. I haven't had to add any since.

So, just keep on adding...? Somehow this seems strange, but it does make some sense.

I have an 05 journey with the 350 cat. I checked the oil at 3000 miles and added a quart. Again checked it at 5000 miles and added 2 more quarts........

The freightliner service center told me this was not at all unusual with new coaches. He said during the first 5000-7500 miles it can burn 3-4 quarts.......normal.
