I have done all of the checks I can on my 5.5 onan and have come to the unfortunate conclusion that I have a circuit board issue within the generator. I talked to the Cummins/Onan dealer and he said that if you lose the hour meter and the "Generator On" lite on the rear Powerline panel and the front start switch lite then the 12 volt part of the board is bad. He advised me that a new board is over $400. Yipes. Do any of you know of anyone who repairs these boards? Or is there an after market source for these boards? Any help would surely be appreciated.

inspectorudy - contact www.flightsystems.com - they specialize in control board reconditioning- you will need the generator model and spec number and the control board number (visible after removing the board from the generator) - they are very freindly and helpfull and you can contact them personally for a quote- they handle control systems for many generators as well as rebuilding control modules for things like RV steps, handicap motorscooters etc. - check out their website.

An up date for anyone needing a circuit board for your Onan. The company mentioned above has mostly older boards and can fix almost any board but because the boards are covered in black epoxy it takes a long time (at least two weeks) to clean and repair them. They gave me the name of another company that has most of them in stock for immediate delivery. Their name is ASAP auto parts and their number 18006301230. Onan quoted me $400 and their price for a new board was $329. Still high but $70 is $70.
