I have had an issue with the Auto Gen Start in my 08 Journey that neither Onan or Winnebago dealer has been able to correct.

My Gen (When in Auto Start mode) will start and run as required (low battery, pre quiet time charge, HVAC request). The problem is that it will run for some time, then shut down and immediately restart again. The code says that the reason was HVAC. When it shuts down, the HVAC is still running, then resumes again when the Gen starts and returns AC power. I doesn't seem to me that it should shut off while the HVAC is still running.

Had anyone had a similar issue? They have adjusted the battery voltage settings and time at volt settings with out any luck. I also had them check the micro code level of the EC-30 and that is at current level.

I have had the same problem and it turned out to be a bad connection on the wire that runs from the EC30 to the generator that translates the coded flashes that you see on the start/stop switch into written text on the Onan EC30 display. On the EC30 that wire connection is a blue wire labeled #6 (Genset Status light). Hope this helps.

Thanks Harry, I'll pull the panel and check that wire connection. I appreciate the suggestion.

When you have access to the back of the EC30, you might put a meter on that line(blue #6 and see if the light flashes ( meter on voltage setting) that you see on the off/start generator toggle switch is indeed arriving at the EC30. If it is than I would say that the EC30 itself is bad. If it is not getting to the blue wire it has to a problem in the wiring between the blue #6 wire and the gen set.
This blue wire is one of four wires that have to run directly back to the generator. If you look at the wiring diagram that came with the EC30 you will see what I mean.
