I did some maint. on my genset today and I had planed on installing a new fuel filter. I loosened, but did not disconnect the inlet and outlet fittings according to the onan manual. I waited for the fuel to drain out of the system. It seemed like I gave it enough time and the driping didn't stop, so I tightened up the fittings.

I didn't want to competely undo the fittings and have 100 gals. of fuel raining in my face.

It looks like there is a selenoid valve in the system and I am trying to figure out if system elect. switches have to shut off to turn off the fuel?

Any tips, Thanks

Many people use vice grips to pinch the line closed while they change the filter.

Being a 2006 model, does it need a new fuel filter already? My book says after 500 hours, does yours have that many?

No, just 200 hour service. like to be proactive but I think I'll wait till 500 hours. Thanks for the tip, didn't read that in my manual.

Pinch off the supply line with a needle nose vice grip, hemostats, clamps made for that purpose. Be careful to not damage the line if using the vice grips.

Prime the fuel systems as per the manual when finished, check for leaks and you should be good to go.
