I am looking at 2007 Winnebago Tour motor homes I see some have the Cat 7.2 engine (350HP) and some have the Cummins 8.9 engine (400 HP). What is the experience of those of you that have the Cat 350 HP engine ,fuel economy, towing power etc, we tow a Jeep Liberty and I am just a little afraid the Cat 350 may lack the power for good economy traveling at interstate speeds, any input would be appreciated

We have a Cat 300hp with an Allison 6 Speed and tow a 2006 Ford Escape. The MPG is consistently between 9 and 10. Last year we drove Wolf Creek Pass and had no problem. I drive at about 65 MPH and have noticed no lack in power. Our coach is 36.5 ft long and weighs 26,000 lbs.

So for us even the 300hp Cat does a good job. But I think the Allison six speed has a lot to do with the performance.

We have a Cat 3176 (325hp) with an Allison 4 speed and do not tow. The MPG is 7.5 up lots of hills and 9.5 on freeway. I drive @ about 55 to 60 mph and have noticed no lack of power. Our coach is 40 ft long and prolly weighs in @ 35,000 lbs.
