Phone app to find satellite

When trees block the roof top in motion dish I have found the Satellite AR Android app works great to help see where trees are blocking the bird. Since the app uses the phone camera you are able see the trees and the satellites on the image. You can then adjust you position for to get the signal through a hole in the trees for your portable dish.

Works with Directv and Dish and best of all, it's free.

Very easy. Download and install from PlayStore on your phone or what ever method you use to download apps.
When you open the app you are ask which satellite to search. Directv and Echostar (Dish network) are on the list as well as many, many others.
For example, touch Directv and you will see an arrow pointing in the direction to find the satellite. Move the phone up in front of your face in the direction of the arrow as if your face was the dish receiver looking for the satellite. Move the phone around as if it was your "window" to see the satellite. You will see an satellite icon appear on the image and will be able to see if a tree or other object is blocking the view.

Go to this site https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...dreality&hl=en
for an image of what this looks like and all information about the app. I don't have anything to do with this company or the app other than just a happy user that can verify it works. I set three dish's in the RV park this last weekend in a total or 20 minutes.

It even worked on my upside down dish on my homemade PVC stand.

I down loaded this app to my phone. I think it will be a big help.

DW and I recently returned from a three week trip through BC Canada. Finding DirecTV satellites was a challenge. Some parks had so many trees it was hard to find a satellite. I have a Carry Out antenna that will lock onto a satellite if it has a clear line of sight. On our trip I tried spot after spot looking for a clear line of sight to a satellite signal.

This app should allow me to quickly find a place that has a line of sight to a satellite.

Thanks.

JD

We had a tech from direct tv at our home last night he showed how he used it when he does an install. It looked really easy to aim a portable dish by using the cell phone he pointed the phone to the sky as he moved it towarde the satellite the signal got stronger, just line up the portable dish in the same direction as the phone.
