Question Possessed staircase

I have a 2013 Itasca Sun Star 26 HE with a possessed staircase. Twice in 2 months it would not go down. No reason!!
Today in Western Wyoming in Big Horn Park, stopped for lunch. Everything worked. 2 hours later, it would not work. After checking in to RV Park and setting up, it started working. Very odd.
P.S. Is there a manual override? That first step down was a huge!

If the steps are ; Kwikee there are multiple fuses in the system that should be checked for poor connection , as well as the main controller multiple connector.
Any idea what brand you've got?
Company logo should be on the mechanism.

Get underneath and (be very very careful because it may move) and unplug the cable going to the drive motor and check it for corrosion. Yo may want to add some dielectric grease to it. Also make sure all the connections are tight, including the ground.
You may want to check the actual switch also, pull it out and verify the wires are properly connected.
The last thing to check is the door magnet which is attached to the screen door near the bottom. Ensure it is fastened correctly and inline with the part attached to the door jam.
Good luck and "Watch that Step"

yes it is a kwikee. I looked underneath and the whole staircase area is clean. Except for a few spiderwebs, its clean. (How I can have spiderwebs after 2k miles is beyond me). I pulled on the main connector and it's solid. I did not open the (fuse?) box underneath to look inside it.
I'll add grease to the connections when I get home in a couple of weeks.
The magnet is good and solid. First thing I checked.

Thanks for the reply's!!!!!

Today I went to the worst repair shop in Casper Wyoming. Sonny's RV. What poor customer service! I had them remove the side mounted gear box which operates the stairs. Turns out the gear is broken. Won't go up and won't go down. Tried to sell me gear box for $250 plus $50 shipping.
Part # Lippett #380073
NTP # 470210
I'll Bungee cord the stairs until i get home

Take the old motor to an auto parts store and have them match it to an electric window opener motor. Around $75. A few years ago.

The motor (if I remember right) is a 1996 Ford Focus drivers door electric window motor, but that doesn't have the gear box just the motor and the gear on the end of the motor.

The one you will hear most is the 1986-1995 Ford Taurus. That corresponds to Dorman Part number 742-206. I tried that one and several others https://www.carid.com/images/dorman/...ift-motors.pdf that are similar until the parts guy got sick of me. The problem with these is that the shaft that protrudes from the gear is not as long as the original and will not reach the corresponding hole in the stair frame.

Apparently the Revolution step that we have is different from most out there.

By the way, the replacement I ordered from Amazon (see my first post) was shipped directly from Winnebago.
