I have an 08 Meridian with a Power Gear leveling system. Unlike the HWH systems in my previous motor homes, to level side to side, the system only uses the rear cylinders. The two front cylinders only function together when the front of the coach needs to be leveled. I though something was wrong with the system until I read the manual. Its behavior was described the same way.

This makes no sense to me. When extending a single jack, isn't the chassis being twisted? It's also very difficult to manually level when I have it at home. My slab is not level. What I used to do was I would raise the low side up as high as it would go. I would then raise the other side until it was level. This leveled the coach and raised it up as high as it would go. I can't do that any more. In fact, it's pretty difficult to manually level the coach at all.

Is there logic for the system to behave this way? Is this a throwback to the 3-cylinder systems that were used for a few years? I would be curious of others' opinions about this.

Thanks in advance.

Have you called Power Gear? We also went from HWH to Power Gear in our 09. Did Notice the difference in how the auto mode worked as opposed to HWH. Admit we have not used manual much. That said, our system seems to work different from yours. First the front legs extend to hit ground, then rears work to level front to back, then sides level sideways. Was hard to get used to since HWH starts sideways and Power Gear starts forward/back. Must say also, that the Power Gear levels more accurately than HWH without having to adjust sensor.

Have had Powergear on my coaches for 9 years, followed Powergear and the coach manufactures instructions and have not had a single problem.

Had PowerGear on my Pace Arrow. It was the 3 point system.
Front down first and then the rear jacks. Which would level it side to side.

I thought I had answered this one already.

The two front jacks are connected together. They form a single "pivot" point located 1/2 way between them

SO you put your front jacks down,, You put your rear jacks down.. Now you extend ONE rear jack to level.. As that jack extends the Front jack on that side will extend a bit and the front jack on the other side will retract.. This may cause you to "nose down" a bit (just extend the front jacks a bit more to make up for it)

IT's that simple.. Though you have four jacks, and thus you have the strength of a 4 jack system where the jacks are bolted to the strongest parts of your chassis (The frame rails)

It acts and works like a 3-jack system. In my not very humble opinion that is a very good design..

Now, I have heard of a few companies that have a true 4-jack system.. I've also heard of either wiring errors or computer software errors that extended the RightFront and the Left Rear.. MAJOR problem.. Power gear very simply can not do that. Impossible for that to happen

THereis one "However" though

If the front jacks are FULLY extended.. Then the blanacing act won't work. (Applies to all 4 jack systems I might add) there has to be room for it to wiggle.
