usually i turn the power off to the second ac compressor but last week i turned it on as the outside temp was over 100...i was watching the amp usage on the panel and saw the water heater light go out indicating power cut off to the heater but the amps didn't go down..next the second compressor light went out but no reduction of amps used..about 10 seconds later the rv power shut off ..i went out to reset the circuit breaker and found the plugs fried at the surge protector..i was able to install a new male plug and get power again but was wondering how to check the power panel without burning something up again..thanks..jim

Sounds like your energy management system is a little wonky. Find their support contact info on their web site and give them a call.

Those lights are showing that the power is avalible to the device. When the light goes out the power managment system is shedding the power load to the device as not to go over the 30 amp supply. If your hot water heater wasn't running on electric power you wouldn't see and reduction in amps, but at the same time you wouldn't be able to run the heater on electric at that time any way. Then it shedded the 2nd compressor to the air conditioner. But you say you turn if off some time any way. I don't know why you would need to do that because the power managment system would do that automaticly. Your melted power plug could have been a loose connection that overheated and melted the plug. The power management system sounds like it was opperating properly to me. My power cord melted at the pedestal, caused by a loose connection in the box. Not my fault at all. The campground replaced the plug for free. But still. Hey John, thanks for the link.
