Question about front door Assist/Grab Bar bolts

Hi - I just need to find out if the hardware holding the outside front door assist/grab bar are bolts or screws. Long story short I had some painting done on the coach and the place managed to lose the bar and hardware. I've reordered the bar but now the only information I have on the mounting bolts/screws is that they are 8-18X1 PLH which I'm sure is the size but it it machine threads or sheet metal type screws?

2003 Journey DL.

Thanks!

On my 04 adventurer the are self drilling sheet metal screws. They are very hard to remove.

8-18 is a sheet metal screw. A number 8 machine screw would have more threads per inch, e.g. 8-32. As an aside, a no. 8 screw seems small for this application.

Thanks everyone! I agree it is a sheet metal type screw. I got some #8 stainless ones at Home Depot this morning. 4 of them on each end may be enough.

I agree with ChasA. It is definitely a sheet metal screw. The one inch seems short. The reason they use a no. 8 is because the 10 would have a larger head that would not fit the handle opening. The original screw heads are "chrome" polished to match the handle fixture.
Let us know how you do.
