Questions for new Adventurer/Suncruiser owners

The 38Q floor plan is one of the best I've seen. Living in NH it's a long way to look at one, the closest being in Syracuse NY. A couple questions before we take the drive out to check one out. What is the CCC for this model? I haven't seen any official numbers from the factory and was hoping someone had put theirs on a scale for actual weight. The other question is what eager would you recommend for initial purchase/ease of PDI and warranty issue resolution? I know I'm asking a lot but I haven't come across any info on dealers concerning Winnabago products that is relatively new.

Up to a couple weeks ago I was on a search for a diesel but after some serious discussions with my wife we are no longer going to be fulltiming it so I can't afford a diesel and a B&M home.

Thanks for all comments,
Marc

CCC depends on the options chosen, but I believe it is about 2,800 pounds for the 38Q.

Hi, Marc. We have a 2016 Itasca 38Q-U1 purchased in the fall of 2015. the U1 version is essentially the same chassis and drive train as the 2015 model. Winnebago only made the 2016-U1 for a few months before changing the cockpit area and the tranny to a 6-speed from a 5-speed.

I'm old school. I prefer to deal in empty weight, wet weight and payload instead of the more confusing CCC, NCC, SCC, etc. Here are the weights that I registered when we first took delivery and as recently as last april:

FRONT AXLE

GAWR - 9000-lbs
Empty Weight (a): 6800-lbs
Wet Weight (b): 6925-lbs
Payload (c): 2075-lbs

REAR AXLE

GAWR - 17,500-lbs
Empty Weight: 14,000-lbs
Wet Weight: 15,100-lbs
Payload: 2,400-lbs

a: as it came from the factory with all options, nothing else
b: full fresh water, fuel and LP tanks, nothing else
c: amount of weight that can be added to each axle without exceeding the GAWR.

when the coach is fully loaded with full tanks, supplies, food, clothing, people, pets, etc. my front axle weighs 7,380-lbs and the rear weighs in at 17,100-lbs. we flat tow so that adds a negligible amount of weight but the rear margin is a bit too close for my comfort so we tend to travel with just a half tank of fresh water (35-40 gal) which provides a bit more margin on the rear axle, roughly 200-250 lbs or a margin of 600-650 lbs.

when comparing or getting weights on your vehicle be sure to deal with individual axle weights. that's the only way to be sure. it is possible to be overweight on one axle and still weigh less than the GVWR. I know from personal experience. 4-corner weights are best for calculating your tire pressures but axle weights are sufficient for calculating payload.

good luck.

Red face

Our 2016 6 speed 38Q according to the factory weight sticker we have 4520# of CCC. Weighed it last year going to N.C. Steer 7,500# Drive 15,820# Toad 3740# Gross 27,060#. Full fuel, 2/3 water, full L.P. Me and my DW. Run just a tad heavier this year.

That leaves me with 1,500# available on steer axel, 1,680# on the drive axel.

We have all options with the exception being washer/dryer. It is a great floor plan for the two of us. We are leaving in the morning for Maine.
