I would think the only place you might notice a disadvantage for the 4 spd versus a 6 spd would be in mountain driving. Harder to find just the "right" gear when climbing or descending with the wider ratio spread.
Make sure the engine coolant has been maintained and changed when required. It would take more of an expert than me to explain why, but bad coolant can damage a diesel engine.

My 36' also has a 228" wheelbase and drives like it's on rails, so you should be good in that respect.
The airbags really just replace the springs - all the other components are still there.
