Quick Connect propane connector - 01 Journey

Has anyone plumbed a quick connect adapter to their coach propane tank for attaching a protable grill. If so can you give me some guidance on how to do it?

My old travel trailer had such a connection but I can't seem to find one on the MH.

I have not done it, however my 2012 Journey has it done at the factory and going to their web site and looking at the parts manual may help you to see how it was done. ( I will check to see if the parts breakdown will show it.)

I have one on my current MH installed by previous owner. He (they) put a T connector on the line going up to the fridge and a quick connect mounted at the center of the coach (door side) just below the compartment door. I don't know if I should/can trust a quick connect for this application. Would like to know if the regular propane type (screwed-on) would be better or safer?? I have yet to find a 25 foot extension. BTW, I mostly use the small green tanks anyways.

Did something similar on my tt. Put a T fitting pre-reg at the tanks with an on/off valve, I needed HP. Ran a 5 ft HP line away from tanks, attached a 1lb. Bottle fitting, then secured to trailer frame. Then grabbed a 12ft propane extension hose (designed to attach to the grill and a 1lb bottle). Now when I need to use my HP portable grill, I screw into the grill and then to the trailer, flip the on/off and done.

All of this can be found at an Ace hardware or Amazon.

I was going to do quick disconnects, but the price was too high. I figure the screw fittings will last long enough.

Kdawg, do you see anything wrong with the quick disconnect fittings? Have only seen those on air tools/hoses...

my thor Daybreak came with a remote line with a quick disconnect and a portable grill. the grill was a bit small so i thought i'd use a large grill i had. discovered that the factory installation of the line was after the regulator on the MH propane tank. my other grill has a regulator like most other grills. what i found was that with these two regulators, i didn't have enough pressure to power the grill. apparently the grill that came with the coach is a low pressure grill that works ok. apparently to fuel a common type grill you have to tap into the line at the tank before it goes thru the regulator.

I have done this upgrade and it is a snap.......pick up a extend-a-stay tee assy for abot 40.00 dollars....and a 12 foot extend-a-stay hose will cost you about the same 40.00 dollars, now your all set.
One thing to keep in mind is do not use a hose longer than 12 feet.....reason being, if your propane tank ( coach tank) is on the low side the pressure you will need to fire up the portable grill may not be enough.

No, they come from the factory on many rigs. I'd put an on/off on the line in case the mounted qd leaks though.

O
Yes, Nice and simple. The reason I went a different route was so I could still use the auto changeover on the dual tanks.
