Rear Brakes Locked up

Started up my '86 Winne the other day and i had trouble moving it. It is a 22' Chieftain model. When in drive or reverse, something seemed to be dragging. Ebrake was not set but it seemed that the rear brakes were locked up. It was very difficult to move, almost had to floor the pedal to get it to move. I rocked back and forth from reverse to drive for about 5 minutes, pulled ebrake off and on, and pumped the brakes. Eventually it let loose and everything was fine. Should I check the rear brakes for wear or is something wrong?

Do you have a driveline brake? (drum on the driveshaft) If so the brake shoes themselves may be unaffected however I can't render a good opinion unless I saw this issue first hand. What chassis is this motorhome on?

No driveline brake. I jacked up the front end and both tires spin free. Jacked up the left rear, spins fine. it was such a pain to jack up the rear i almost didn't chech the right but i'm glad i did. right rear wheel locked up. i tried adjusting the tension on the ebrake cable but it didn't help. that side was not moving. i just speedy cut the line off, felt the drum pop as sloon as i cut thru the middle wire of the brake cable. spins fine now, good to go.

My MH rear brakes locked once. I rocked it back and forth and they broke loose.

I found out later that this will happen when you drive through rain and then stop. I guess they just stick to the drums. So the solution is to drive around the block a few times after the rain stops and heat up the drums by applying brakes to dry them out. Have not had a problem since.

Thought I would pass this on.
