In addition to the TrueAir thermostat which controls the air and heat pump for the whole coach along with the front furnace, I have a manual thermostat in the back bedroom for the rear furnace. Since it is not digital, it is hard to determine where to set the control prior to going to bed to work properly. If it is set too high, then the rear furnace runs even though the whole coach heat pump would do the trick and I waste propane. If set too low, when the heat pump stops working because it is too cold outside, we freeze because not much heat from the front furnace gets to the back. I usually start low, move the lever up until I hear the thermostat trip, then back it down a little.

I would like to replace this manual thermostat with a digital one with a temperature readout so I can set it a little more precisely.

Has anyone replaced their manual thermostat? Any recommendations?

Thanks,

I recently replaced mine with a Honeywell - Model RTH221. Available at Home Depot for about $20. Use just the heat connections when you connect it

Walmart has a ~$20 Hunter with a digital readout.

I agree the manual stat in the rear is crude. I set my front stat on 62 at night, and the rear between 50 & 60. If outside temps are such that I figure the heatpump will lock out, I'll set the front stat at 64 OR go ahead and switch it to gas. Replacing with a digital sounds like a good idea.

I've also had the same idea of replacing the rear thermostat but just put it aside. I replaced the thermostat in my Arctic Fox trailer years ago with a Hunter that worked great. They do have a battery inside to replace once in a while but no problem. I'm going to write down the Hunter for our next trip to Walmart. Good idea.

Two AAs, but carry some spares. You don't want them to go dead in the middle of the night. No idea how long the last as I take them out when not using the stat.
