I am looking at a 06 32' Itasca Meridian and when I drove it the hitch would drag going over minor driveways. When aired up and ready to roll the wide rear flap clears the pavement by about an inch. I would like to know what is the norm for the distance from pavement to the bottom of the 2" reciever socket, also is there a way to adjust the air bags for a bit higher ride.
Thanks for your time.

rtrek, I don't know if any manufacturer, installs hitches to a specific height. I know mine rubs on and off the ferries, but that is fairly steep incline. 1 1/2"is about my flap clearance. Only spec I'm aware of is that most trailers are set to tow level, with the top of the ball height at 15". Is the 2" tube tight to the bottom of the rear bumper ? I'm new to Class A air suspension but I don't think there could be any more than 1/2" of up height ( if any) on my F/L chassis.
Are you sure it's the hitch thats draging ? The metal frame on my flap drags often.

General guidance is that if you have a solid "mud guard" flap it needs to clear the pavement by 6-8" ...if it is lower than that it will tend to sweep up rocks and debris and cause MORE damage to your toad than it prevents. The "hula skirt" type seem to do the most good while causing the least damage.

There is no real standard for hitch height, though most simply come off the frame and they you have to use a drop/lift to get the towbar/trailer within 4" of level. I have to use a 4" drop on my hitch to get the towbar to my Honda Odyssey close to level.
