I have a 2008 Navion Itasca and I want to be able to see the toad while I drive. I am considering a wireless camera that transmits to any DVD that has the antenna installed on it. HAs anyone else used a wireless camera?

Yep, I bought one from Wal-Mart that worked just fine.

Hi Dan- welcome to the forum!

We always leave our rear monitor on while we drive - I like to keep an eye on the toad and I can see what's coming up on me from the rear. It is also useful in passing situations.

Dan, I second John's welcome to IRV2 .

Like John, I always leave my rear view camera on while traveling to keep an eye on things behind me. Once you've had one, you won't want to travel without it.

Wireless would certainly be a good way to go. Winnebago usually installs coax cable in their rigs...if you think you'd want to install a wired camera, you may want to check with Winnebago to see if your rig is pre-wired.

Welcome to the forum Dan!

There's no doubt to the worth of having a rear monitor on an RV but I think you're asking about a wireless system in particular. I tried a wireless system in our Sunova and it just didn't work over that kind of distance between the camera and monitor. It's been a while but I remember the picture fading in and out and having interference problems. Your results might be better because of the shorter length of a Navion.

I doubt that you'll find the performance of a wired system in a wireless format. In fact RVCams.com says this on their wireless page: "When (or if) we find a wireless system that works as advertised, this is where it will be listed." If you do go ahead and try a wireless system I'd make sure you've bought one from a merchant with a liberal return policy.
