2000 chieftain .... mystery lp leak ??? when i run the frig on lp and drive , ... the lp detector goes off after a couple of blocks ... turn the frig off and the lp alarm stops after a block or two ... this just started happening ... can't really say i can smell the lp but, my wife says she thinks she smells gas . soap tested everything i could find with no luck ... the frig works on lp when it's still without setting off the lp alarm ... dealers and the winny factory say there's no connection and the frig is sealed so no outside gasses can come in through the frig. even if it did leak out side in the burner area .... at a loss .. help if you can .... ron

Hi, welcome to irv2.com! I would closely inspect the gas range for leaks, the oven pilot may be leaking when off. Like you said, the refrigerator gas burner is sealed from the coach interior, but is the refrigerator and stove in a slide? If so, perhaps the flexible propane line has a tiny leak that presents itself only when gas is flowing. That is my EWAG anyway.

This might be a stretch but sounds like you did a good search for lp. Could your gas detector be picking up some other gas then lp. Maybe a methane derivative from a gray tank? If I remember methyl mercaptan is detectable at 3 parts per billion so you should be able to smell it if it were present. I know my gas detector picks up some pretty quirky things. For example many cleaning supplies set it off at the drop of a hat.
